I would like to highly recommend Mike's Appliances in Pinole. I'd worked with Galvin's in El Cerrito for many years (they retired). I am happy to report that this, too, is a family business, both literally and figuratively. They even close over Memorial Weekend every year for a camping trip, extending sales to the first weekend in June.
The store is clean, not cluttered. The salesperson who helped me was pleasant, efficient, and knowledgeable, not at all sleazy or hard sell. Prices were very reasonable. I will be back, no question.

I'm writing with an enthusiastic thank you to the neighbor who first found Gary of General Refrigeration (510) 652-1302. He came the next morning, found my problem immediately, explained it clearly and fixed it for a moderate price. He was pleasant, efficient, and responded well to my request that he wear an N95 mask (I had one ready), which was a relief. It doesn't always go that way (courtesy about Covid vulnerabilities) when we are all, including the vulnerable, tired of the topic. (January, 2024)

Hi Ida, I want to add another current review for Gary, owner of General Refrigeration Services. I have called Gary twice now; and he is a miracle worker! He is extremely efficient, reliable and in this most recent instance, he was able to get out to me in under an hour. Although I'm no expert, his rates seem very reasonable. Gary carries parts for most common refrigerator models, so there is no long wait. I can't recommend him highly enough - and he appreciates referrals.

I contacted Gary at General Refrigeration Services based upon reviews here. He doesn't advertise - after 30 years he doesn't need to. He was out here to BYL within a few hours of my call and diagnosed the problem within minutes due to his extensive experience. Cost was very reasonable; and Gary is very personable and service-oriented.

Consulting this very helpful section of Share-the-Wealth, I recently contacted Gary from General Refrigeration Service - 510-652-1302 - to fix a very leaky freezer. He came out the following morning, diagnosed, replaced parts and the freezer was like new in less than an hour. He is prompt, knowledgeable and fair. I highly recommend! (Jan 2018)
